Dune: Awakening Hotfix – Deep Desert PvE Changes

Funcom has released a hotfix for Dune: Awakening that reshapes the endgame by converting the entire southern half of the Deep Desert into a player versus environment (PvE) zone. Control points and shipwrecks remain player versus player (PvP) areas even in the south, preserving localized combat for those who seek it. The developer stated it will monitor the changes and continue iterating based on feedback.

      Deep Desert Rebalance

The northern PvP zone now holds the most valuable and abundant resources to maintain a risk-reward dynamic. Active medium spice fields dropped from eight to five, while small spice fields increased from 20 to 22. Titanium and Stravidium spawn rates are reduced in PvE areas, with large quantities exclusive to the far north, and their respawn timer rose from 30 to 45 minutes. Loot distribution also differs: PvE areas give each player their own loot, typically one schematic per encounter, whereas PvP zones use first-come-first-served distribution with higher quantities—including two to six of the rarest schematics. Some Imperial Testing Stations remain in PvP areas; loot there rotates weekly, so PvE-focused players may obtain schematics later via trade or the Exchange.

      Ornithopter Adjustments

Equipping a Rocket Launcher Module now reduces top speed: 20% for Scout Ornithopters and 10% for Assault variants. Exiting an ornithopter mid-air causes it to drop straight down instead of gliding, reducing the chance of losing it after disconnects or accidental exits. Funcom has more PvP-focused ornithopter changes planned.
